How to Stop Crypto & Casino Scams on Discord (Even in Images)

Fake crypto casinos, "withdraw your bonus" screenshots and fake giveaways spread through hacked Discord accounts. Here is how the scam works and how to block it automatically, including text inside images.

To stop crypto scams on Discord, you need a filter that reads images as well as text, because most scams are now posted as screenshots. Krypton's Anti Crypto Scam reads the text inside images, checks links for lookalike domains, deletes the scam and times out the sender, which is usually a hacked member account.

How the scam works

  1. A member's account is stolen, often through a fake login page or a malicious file.
  2. The scammer uses it to post in every server the member belongs to, because members trust a familiar name.
  3. The post is usually a screenshot: a fake crypto casino showing a large withdrawal, a "bonus" with a promo code, or a celebrity giveaway.
  4. Victims sign up, deposit to "unlock" the bonus, and lose the money.

Because the important words (the site name, the promo code, the bonus) are inside the picture, keyword filters and Discord's built-in AutoMod usually miss it.

Signs a message is a crypto scam

  • A screenshot of a large balance or withdrawal from a site you have never heard of.
  • A promo code that "activates" a bonus.
  • Claims that a famous person or brand is giving away crypto.
  • A link whose domain is slightly misspelled or shortened.
  • The same message posted in several channels at once by a normally quiet member.

How to block it automatically

1. Turn on Anti Crypto Scam

With Krypton Prime, run anticryptoscam enable. Each message is scored on several signals at once (impersonation, fake bonuses, promo codes and suspicious links), including the text Krypton reads from attached images.

2. Choose how strict to be

Set the confidence needed before acting with anticryptoscam threshold (60 to 100) and the timeout length with anticryptoscam timeout 1h. A timeout rather than a ban gives the real owner of a hacked account a chance to recover it.

3. Log every detection

anticryptoscam logchannel #scam-logs sends each case to your staff with the reason and confidence. Use anticryptoscam case to see exactly why something was flagged.

4. Avoid false positives

Trust domains your community uses (anticryptoscam trust add example.com), ignore channels where trading talk is normal, and add trusted roles to the bypass list. Test the detector on any message with anticryptoscam scan before relying on it.

Extra layers that help

  • AutoMod blocks phishing and lookalike links in text (Premium smart filters).
  • Honeypot softbans hacked accounts that spam every channel.
  • Member education: pin a short warning that staff will never DM members about giveaways or crypto.

If a member already got scammed

Tell them to change their password, enable two-factor authentication and log out of all devices in Discord's settings. Remove the scam messages, and report the account and the scam site to Discord Trust & Safety.
