Best Free MEE6 Alternative in 2026 (Without the Paywall)
Tired of MEE6 putting features behind a subscription? Here is what a free MEE6 alternative should include, and how Krypton covers welcome messages, automod, moderation, music and security for free.
Short answer: Krypton is a free MEE6 alternative that covers welcome messages, autoroles, automod, moderation, music, giveaways and server security without a subscription for the core features. MEE6 is still the better pick if XP leveling is the centre of your community.
MEE6 is one of the most popular Discord bots, and its setup is genuinely easy. The most common complaint is that many useful features sit behind its paid plans. Here is what to look for in a replacement and how Krypton compares.
# Krypton vs MEE6
| Feature / Aspect | MEE6 | Krypton |
|---|---|---|
| Welcome messages & autorole | ||
| AutoMod | ||
| Moderation commands | ||
| Autoresponders / custom replies | ||
| XP leveling system | Message leaderboards (Premium) | |

| Honeypot & image scam detection | Premium | |
| Server backup owner code |
What a MEE6 replacement should include
- Welcome and leave messages with embeds and variables like the member's name and member count.
- Autoroles for new members and bots.
- Automod and moderation that work on the free plan.
- Security: MEE6 doesn't include anti-nuke, so a replacement should protect against compromised admins.
- Fun and engagement: music, giveaways and games keep members active.
How Krypton covers it
Welcome messages and autoroles
Krypton Welcomer sends custom embed welcome messages with dynamic variables, buttons and welcome cards, and gives roles to new members and bots automatically.
Automod and moderation
AutoMod includes per-rule actions and escalating punishments, and the moderation module covers bans, timeouts, warnings, jail and case history.
Security MEE6 doesn't offer
Krypton's free Anti-Nuke stops mass bans and channel deletions. Premium adds Honeypot trap channels and scam detection that reads images.
Engagement
Music, giveaways, games and autoresponders are included.
Where MEE6 is still better
If your community runs on XP levels, rank cards and level-up rewards, MEE6's leveling is more complete. Krypton Premium offers message leaderboards and detailed activity stats, but not a full XP leveling system.
